French regulatory authorities have uncovered multiple cases of illegal sales on e-commerce platforms
The French Directorate General for Consumer Protection (DGCCRF) recently conducted a special inspection and found serious violations on multiple international e-commerce platforms, including AliExpress, Joom, Wish, Temu, and eBay. These platforms not only sell prohibited goods such as child sex dolls and weapons, but platforms like Amazon, Temu, and Wish are also suspected of violating regulations protecting minors by failing to effectively filter adult content.
Currently, Serge Papon, the French Minister of Commerce, has officially handed over the relevant case to the prosecution for handling. Meanwhile, the French government is actively preparing to convene a meeting of EU commerce ministers to discuss this matter multilaterally. This action is an important part of the French government's series of measures to protect the local retail industry and combat unfair competition.
It is noteworthy that the EU is also advancing relevant regulatory measures simultaneously. To curb the impact of low-priced e-commerce products from China, the EU is improving the policy framework for imposing tariffs on low-value parcels. This measure forms a policy synergy with France's efforts to strengthen the regulation of foreign e-commerce platforms, jointly maintaining a fair competitive environment in the European market.
